Our Mission Statement, Vision and Intent
Mission Statement
At the heart of our Catholic faith, we pursue the truth and strive for excellence. The more we recognise and appreciate the beauty and goodness in ourselves and others, the more we come to recognise God. At St Augustine’s School, we share the Light of Christ with each other and feel a sense of belonging to the family of the Church. Our school is a place of order, stability, tolerance and love, where we foster good relationships between home, school, parish, local and wider community. Together we will make this school a place where everyone is nurtured, supported and valued while being circled by God’s love.
When God’s love enters our hearts, we grow in wisdom and understanding.
Vision Statement
At St. Augustine’s we aim to live our lives under the motto of our Patron Saint, Tolle Lege (pick up and read). We encourage our children to be lifelong learners and provide them with opportunities to be:
- Independent
- Resilient
- Successful
- Self-motivated
We believe that every pupil at St. Augustine’s school can achieve high standards in a safe, happy and welcoming environment. Good relationships between the children, staff, parents and governors provide a positive environment that enables deep and new opportunities for learning. We provide opportunities for pupils to develop academically, spiritually and creatively. We have clear and consistent expectations of behaviour centred around strong moral values of our faith and a zero tolerance of bullying. We promote and celebrate all our successes in either academia or in a more creative subject such as sport, dance, music or drama.
Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.
- St. Augustine
At St. Augustine’s we intend:
- For our children to be excellent communicators, and to develop the strong communication skills necessary for success in future learning.
-
To encourage creativity in all aspects of school life, ensuring all the children are given opportunities to develop their God given talents.
-
To teach the children to respect themselves, in the way that God has made them, and respect others, in the way that Jesus lived his life.
-
For the children to have a greater understanding and be inclusive of people of different faiths, race and gender in this diverse community and in the wider world.
-
To have high aspirations for all children, for them to achieve the best that they can and encourage them to apply themselves and take risks in a variety of situations of school life.
-
To provide enriched educational opportunities to all pupils and support them in preparing themselves for the next stage in their lifelong learning journey.
